Yes, we are finally on our way!
Luton to Madrid with easyJet was a breeze, although they did put us into different boarding groups. Tickets were not checked though so we boarded together!
Eventually found the Hostal Cruz Sol but the reason we couldn't find it at first was it's on the second and third floor. We were not looking upwards. Good hostal though, clean and comfortable, but not much room to move inside the rooms!
In Madrid we did a rapid tour of all we could. Picasso's Guernica was disappointingly small. Having seen it on TV we expected something much larger. The architecture was amazing everywhere. Then we went to see David Beckham and co play for Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu. In the first half they were dreadful but in the second, sublime. Jonathan Woodgate had a debut to forget though, with an own goal and a red card!
Tapas, beer, coffee, ice-cream (Ben and Jerrys!), we tried it all. Fortunately we walked a lot too so the waistlines won't have suffered too much!!
On to Peru now.
